Pressure still on for log leaders

LITTLE Birds should keep the pressure on Shinning Stars when they play tail-enders Soweto Angels in a Zwifa Premier League match at the Gal City field on Sunday.

Last week Birds beat the log leaders to close the gap to three points.

Stars have a difficult match against Major Chiefs, who trail the log leaders by eight points but have two matches in hand.

Defending champions Swartkops United, who are tied for third, could also find it tough when they tackle Gal City, who are just two points adrift.

Kuyasa United, who trail Swartkops on goal difference, should pick up maximum points against struggling Young Brothers.

In the First Division, log-leaders Strikers United are up against Umanyano Stars, who are nine points behind but have two matches in hand, at the Camper United field.

Young Killers could struggle to hold onto second place when they play Upper United, while Camper United, who trail Killers on goal difference, should pick up easy points against Everton Aces, who have just one point from seven matches.

While the relegation battle hots up, Ikamva Movers can place one hand on the Mofa Motherwell Build-it Premier League trophy on Sunday when they play Liverpool at the NU2 Stadium.

Victory on Sunday will see Movers needing just one point to lift the trophy.

Young Madrid, who are the only team who could spoil the party for Movers, have a bye.

The match of the weekend should be the clash between Valencia and Young Romans, who are third and fourth respectively.

Neither are in a position to challenge Movers for the league title.

At the bottom of the log, four teams are locked in the relegation battle.

Tail-enders Young Ideas must beat Real Aces to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Lion Stars and Tottenham Spurs will also be battling it out to save their Premier League status. There is every possibility that the loser will be relegated.

Manchester United, who are also in deep trouble, have a bye.
