Pearson take shock 4-2 win

AFTER their return from a two-week European hockey tour, Pearson scored a rare win when they defeated St Andrew's 4-2 in Grahamstown last week.

Pearson were first on the scoreboard with a well-converted penalty corner by captain Tinus Loots.

Shortly after that, Pearson were awarded a penalty flick which was put away by Joshua Dodd to make it 2-0.

Pearson continued to play a high-paced passing game, with St Andrew's catching them on the counter-attack at times.

A well-worked passage of play saw St Andrew's pull off a clinical field goal to make the score 2-1.

Shortly before the break, Pearson's Meldon Clark finished a great period of play to make the score 3-1 to Pearson at half time.

The second half continued in a similar patter, with the high pace and intensity being kept up.

Pearson were awarded the first penalty corner of the second half and Dodd converted to make the score 4-1.

With 15 minutes to go, St Andrew's had a breakaway and put away their second goal.

The game was tense and both sides gave it their all, but Pearson managed to hold on for the win.
