Highbury aim to get back into league top three

HIGHBURY are hoping to get their challenge for the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League title back on track when they clash with Champion FC at the Gelvandale Stadium today.

Highbury had a major setback last week after their match against Matta Milan was rescheduled for another weekend in Dutywa.

Highbury, who were third on the log on 32 points with only a goal difference between them and the top two teams at the time, now drop to fifth because of the setback.

They are now back at their happy hunting ground for the second round of the league season clash with Champion after the two sides played to a goalless draw in the first round at the New Rest Stadium in Lusikisiki.

Both teams still have a game in hand compared to other teams on the log who have already played 17 games. But Highbury are on 33 points while eighth-placed Champion have 27 points.

Highbury coach Garth Dickinson said the maximum points were important for his team. "We can beat Champion for sure and if we do so, I think we'll be back in the top three. We are not going to change our plan."

Meanwhile another Port Elizabeth side campaigning in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League, Real City, will welcome struggling OR Tambo at the NU2 Stadium in Motherwell tomorrow at 5pm. Motherwell team City walloped Tambo 4-1 in the first round and they are hoping to strike again.

City coach Bonke Namba said the game would be tough but they were aiming to collect three point again from Tambo. "We know they are struggling at the bottom of the log table and we will sink them."

Port Elizabeth side Morning Stars will travel to Mdantsane to face Tornado in the provincial ABC Motsepe League at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium today at 7pm. - Mthetho Ndoni
