Aryan B come out firing to cause upset

WHAT seemed to be a straightforward assignment for Aryan A against their B team turned into a surprise setback in the Nelson Mandela Bay table tennis premier league this week.

As Aryan B came out with their guns blazing, they turned the tables on the A side with an 8-3 victory.

Neil Hendricks was the star player for the B team, winning all his matches.

In another interesting encounter, Booysens Pride registered a hard-fought 7-4 win over NMMU B.

For the varsity side, Philo Moodaley stood out, winning all his matches, including an exciting 6-11 12-10 12-10 win over Vernal Higgins.

In the first league, Livvie Alumni A scored an 8-3 win over their B team, with Elton Bloemetjie showing good form in going through the evening unbeaten.

With Prishen Ryan and Themba Ngxabi in top form for NMMU C, they had an easy 9-2 win over Callies B. However, there was a well-contested encounter when Ngxabi was pushed all the way by Sureshan Norman, 11-7 5-11 11-7.

Despatch had a comfortable 11-0 win over NMMU E, while Zeenal Bhana, Claud Lawack and Younus Choonara led Aryan C to a similar result over NMMU D.
