Proteas fired up for PE showdown

THE PROTEAS are fully cognisant of the threat of Pakistan’s spinners when the sides meet for the second Momentum One Day cricket international at Axxess St George’s tomorrow.

The surface at St George’s has a reputation for being slow and low and the pitches have suited spin bowling on more occasions than not.

Assistant coach Adrian Birrell, who played for and coached Eastern Province, said the Proteas respected Pakistan: “They are one of the best bowling sides in the world, certainly in the spin department.
