Smuts, Ingram lead Warriors to easy victory

THE Chevrolet Warriors cruised to another resounding victory over Border, beating them by six wickets in their pre-season friendly at Grey High School yesterday.

For the second time in as many days they achieved their goal of being clinical and were superior to Border in all facets of the game.

Border made 215/9 with Burton de Wett making 41, Daryl Brown 38 and Abongile Sodumo 32 not out.

However, their pedestrian scoring rate was never going to challenge the franchise side. Warriors seamer Tladi Bukako was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/14.

The home side then maintained a scoring rate of six runs per over with Jon-Jon Smuts hitting 85 (61 balls). Colin Ingram also showed his class with 74 not out (71 balls) as the Warriors won with 19 overs to spare.

The Warriors play their first match of the season in the Momentum One-day Cup against the Knights in Kimberley next Sunday.
