A SUPERB late strike by Lukhanyo Rasmeni secured NMMU Madibaz a place in the Varsity Cup Football final as they beat Tshwane University of Technology 1-0 in their semifinal in Pretoria last night.
Rasmeni doubled his goal tally for the season when he took advantage of a defensive lapse by TUT to fire it home from an acute angle with 12 minutes left.
It was TUT’s first defeat of the season, after they ended the competition’s league phase on top of the log, but their campaign ended in heartbreak as Rasmeni’s strike silenced the home crowd.
The result set up a classic north versus south showdown between the Madibaz and Tuks in Pretoria on Monday next week.
