GREY High emerged victorious in the PE Comets Schools basketball tournament held at Wells Estate at the weekend, coming out on top in the boys’ U13 and U16 divisions.
The girls’ titles were won by the Boland regional schools team, who provided some strong competition for the Bay schools.
Grey proved their superiority in the tournament by comfortably defeating the Boland schools teams 25-6 in the U16 final and 16-5 in the U13 final. Boland were decisive winners in the girls’ U13 division, defeating Mdengentonga Primary 20-2, but they were pushed hard by Morningside in the U16 section, eventually getting home 22-18.
PE Comets president Sibongile Fondini said the tournament had been an outstanding success.
“We were absolutely delighted with the response we got.
“There was massive excitement among the players and the interest was beyond our expectation. We are determined to make this an annual event.”
