NEW Brighton Football Association (Nebfa) hosted their annual awards ceremony to honour the soccer players affiliated with the association for their role in the successful league season at Nangoza Jebe Hall last weekend.
Guests at the gala dinner included Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Ben Fihla, former Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola and Safa NMB deputy president Monde Mhletywa.
Fihla congratulated Nebfa for grooming future Bafana Bafana stars through their amateur football ranks.
“The football association [Nebfa] is indeed a platform to unearth new talent of players who represent their local football association and administrators who worked in different areas in the organisation throughout the season,” he said.
“The ceremony will also motivate other role players to work harder next season so they can also receive honours.”
Nebfa public relations officer Phillip Tsoaela said the function had been a success.
“It was difficult to select the recipients because most of the players and the administrators affiliated in Nebfa, excelled in what they were doing.”
The award winners were: Zamuxolo Matya (players’ player of the season), Anele Mangcu (top goal scorer of the season), Mlungisi Ngani (coach of the season), Red City (club of the season) and Andisiwe Diniso (administrator of the season)
