Countdown begins to popular annual race

PRE-entries at sports shops and the EP Athletics office for the 15th annual Clover Milk Run which starts and ends at Kings Beach on Saturday close at 5pm today.

However, pre-race registration and late entries will be accepted at the Kings Beach Surf Life Saving Clubhouse on Friday between 5pm and 7pm.

The first 500 to collect their pre-entries will receive a litre of milk. Entry fees for the 10km and 5km events are R30 and R20 respectively, and runners not affiliated to Athletics SA will be required to buy a temporary licence for R25 for the 10km event.

Entries will also be accepted on Saturday between 5.30am and 7pm at no extra charge.

Overall, the prize-money is about R30000, with the exciting mystery prizes for both the 10km and 5km events on offer once again. The two closest times will each receive a cash prize of R2500.

The 10km race starts at 7am and the 5km five minutes later.

Runners must be aged 15 or older on the day of the race to participate in the 10km, and nine years old or older on race day for the 5km.

The prize-giving and lucky draws will take place at 9am at the clubhouse and, once again, Brian Bands is supporting the Clover Milk Run with four vouchers and five pairs of running shoes.

Schools have not been left out of the action as the school with the most bulk entries in the 5km will receive R1500. (No bulk entries on race day).
