PROVINCIAL squash players will have an ideal chance to sharpen their games ahead of next month’s Jarvis and Kaplan Cups in Port Elizabeth when the Frontline Underwriting Managers Londt Park Open is held from July 1-5.
The event is shaping up as a major tournament on the EP calendar and prize-money of R16 000 for the A sections will provide a big incentive for players from around the country.
The SA interprovincial gets under way on July 8 and will conclude a period which will see the country’s top players competing in the city.
For squash fans, it will be a two-week feast of high quality squash, while the Ussa tournament hosted by NMMU will see the cream of the country’s students also competing in PE. This will also take place from July 1-5 and clashes with the Londt Park event, although the lucrative prizes on offer should ensure a strong field at Londt Park.
The Londt Park Open will not be limited to the leading players. It caters for all leagues in the lower sections.
The men’s and women’s A sections will accommodate 16 players each, while there will be a 16-strong B section, and C and D sections of 32 players, competing on a handicap format.
The entry fee is R100. Entries close on June 23 and must be e-mailed to Derick Vosloo (email@example.com) or Craig Bezuidenhout (firstname.lastname@example.org).
