HAVING coming from behind to beat Brandwag last week, Framesby were again involved in a schoolboy rugby thriller at the weekend, this time going down to Marlow by a single point. It was an impressive match that eventually saw Marlow run out 31-30 winners.
Home side Framesby will probably have been thinking about victory celebrations as they raced to a 27-7 lead.
But a sensational, long distance try by Marlow’s speedy right wing Michael Botha changed the match around.
That try inspired the visitors and they completed the victory with a try by prop NJ Oosthuizen.
Oosthuizen was prominent at scrum time where Marlow put Framesby under pressure.
In the lineouts, Framesby gave a solid display with good work by Wihan Coetzer and Anru Botha.
Flyhalf Ernst Stapelberg tried hard for the home side and his long distance drop goal was one of the many highlights in a spectacular and hard-fought encounter.
Grey v Dale
GREY High kept their unbeaten record against Eastern Cape schools intact when they registered an emphatic 38-3 win over old rivals Dale in King William’s Town.
The Grey side seem to have finally found their best form and the Dalians were not able to keep them in check this weekend as they ran in six tries, four of them coming from the forwards.
Talented lock Junior Pokomela crossed for two tries and other scores by the forwards came from Martin Groenewald and flank Johann van Niekerk after a drive.
Lively wings Luca Dalla Veccia and Dylan Vermaak each crossed for a try as Grey followed up their impressive win over St Andrew’s the previous week with another fine win.
