THE Southern Kings are planning to stage rugby’s equivalent of the epic World War Two movie The Great Escape when they fight to avoid the wooden spoon in Super Rugby’s South African conference.
If the rookie franchise want to start climbing up the table, they must beat the high-riding Cheetahs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
The Kings are desperate to retain their status and want to avoid what could be a bitter promotion showdown against the Lions.
The Kings will be counting on massive home-ground support to carry them to victory against a Cheetahs side who will arrive in the Bay on a high after beating the Reds 27-13 in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
