‘Angry Birds’ want victory

MOROKA Swallows are in a mean mood ahead of their Absa Premiership league clash against Maritzburg United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tonight.

Swallows – nicknamed the “Dube Birds” – are determined to assert themselves after losing 3-1 in a Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

Maritzburg defeated Swallows in their first league encounter at Dobsonville Stadium last year.

With only four games left in the season, these two teams should be allowed to be carefree.

The defensive tactics should be torn out of the coaches’ notepads and players should enjoy themselves. But a top-eight finish is still within both teams’ reach and they will be keeping a collective eye on that fact.

Maritzburg are sixth on the log with 35 points from 26 games while Swallows are 10th, with 32 points from the same number of games.
