A SPIRITED second-half fightback kept the EP Kings firmly on track for a berth in the Vodacom Cup rugby playoffs when they beat the Sharks XV 27-23 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Trailing 15-3 at the break, the Kings stunned the table-topping visitors with three second-half tries which consolidated their fourth position on the log.
The first half offered little evidence that the Kings would be able stage a comeback and head coach David Maidza must have been delighted by the resilience displayed by his well-balanced team.
The victory also offered some solace for the big crowd at the stadium who later saw the Southern Kings flattened 34-0 by the Bulls.
