HAVING been frustrated by some injuries over the last year, South African James Cunnama’s eagerness for success is boiling over ahead of the Spec-Savers Ironman SA race on Sunday, starting at Hobie Beach at 6.45am.
Arguably the leading South African contender for the country’s premier endurance title, Cunnama is fully focused on doing well this time, having missed out through injury last year.
Earlier this year he was also ruled out of the Ironman 70.3 in East London after being knocked off his bicycle while training in Stellenbosch, so he will be competing in his first race of the year.
Nonetheless Cunnama, who spent seven years in Port Elizabeth but is now based in Stellenbosch, said his training had gone well and he was feeling pretty good.
