EP Kings face vital clash in Cup race

A BEEFED-UP EP Kings rugby team will need to beat arch-rivals South Western Districts Eagles at the NMMU B field today if they plan to stay in contention for the Vodacom Cup playoffs (kick-off 3pm).

A fighting win over the Free State XV in Bloemfontein last week has boosted the Kings’ chances of a knockout berth, but they cannot afford to slip against the formidable Eagles today.

Much interest will focus on the return to action of Luke Watson, who has been sidelined since February by a throat injury he sustained in a Super Rugby showdown against the Western Force.

Watson will be hoping to return to his best form in the weeks ahead to put himself back into contention to regain his position as captain of the Southern Kings.
