RUGGED Southern Kings hooker Bandise Maku believes his ambitious team-mates can make history by beating the Melbourne Rebels to record their first overseas Super Rugby victory in Melbourne on Saturday.
“In this competition any team can beat any team and we have confidence in the way we want to play the game against the Rebels,” the former Springbok said.
Maku, a former Dale College schoolboy, has been a key man in the Kings’ engine-room and is expected to play a major role against the desperate Rebels, who are languishing near the foot of the Super Rugby table.
“The old saying is that everything starts up front and this will apply against the Rebels,” Maku said. “We have to get our set- pieces right and defend well when they have the ball. The forwards will set the tone for the match.”
