Bowls briefs

THERE is Wednesday morning mixed bowls at Park Drive, tabs in 9am. Visitors welcome. Other Park Drive playing sessions are: Tuesday 2pm, Saturday 2pm, Sunday 9.15am, and public holidays 9am. Visitors, prospective members and new bowlers welcome.

The Saturday morning men’s pairs will start this Saturday. The skips and partners to report by 8.45am are: F Baard, S de Boer, M Gray, S Hattingh, H Korkie, J Mattheus, S Matthews, J McKenna, W Scholtz, R Shepheard, C Smith, M Spencer, B Stephenson, F Tapanes, M Weise, R Whadcoat, W Williams, D Wotherspoon. Due to the Easter weekend, the Park Drive 100 Club draw will take place on Friday (6.30pm).


THE PEBC weekly programme is:

Tomorrow morning: tabs in social bowls followed by a light lunch (R30).

Friday: Bob Mott’s Friday morning men’s pairs competition, tabs in 8.55am.

Saturday: afternoon social tabs in; weekly draw (6pm).

Sunday: Steve’s Kokolollies mixed bowls; Tim’s Elite men’s bowls.

Tuesday: Grasshoppers men’s arranged games in the morning; afternoon, tabs in.


UITENHAGE will host morning bowls tomorrow; chicken and wine, registered bowlers tabs in 9am.

On April 1, Boetie Weitz is sponsoring a fish morning competition, registered bowlers tabs in 9am. A light lunch will be available on both days.


THE winners of the King Cars Thursday morning men’s pairs competition on March 14 at Western Suburbs were Clive Duckworth and Gladwyn Horne.


THE office-bearers elected at the EP Bowls annual meeting were: president: Lolly Reed (Western Suburbs); vice-president: Arthur Langley (Somerset East); executive committee: Louise Buttle (Summerwood), Brian Buchanan (Uitenhage), Peter Wildman (PE), Dick Schuurman (E Areas), Arthur Langley (Midlands).


THE programme at Summerwood this week is:

Today: first round of the women’s sponsored pairs (8.45); prospective members, visitors and beginners are invited to a morning of social bowls tomorrow (8.45); the dress is casual, with flat shoes; a light lunch will be available.

There is men’s and women’s social bowls on Saturday (1.45), men’s social on Monday (1.45), and women’s social on Tuesday (1.45).
