Putting new spin on battling Warriors

NEW signing Samit Patel says his personal performances will come second to the Chevrolet Warriors winning their remaining Ram Slam T20 Challenge cricket matches. The England international allrounder met the local media for the first time yesterday and made it clear he had not set any personal goals besides helping the Warriors win matches.

“Not really, as long as we win the game,” the leftarm spinner and righthand bat said when asked if he had set any targets.

Patel trained with his new team-mates yesterday after arriving from New Zealand, where he was touring with the England team, on Monday.

He will be playing a minimum of seven T20 games for the Eastern Cape franchise, starting with a fixture against the Dolphins in East London on Saturday. The 28-year-old has played 18 T20 internationals for England and 111 matches in the same format for Nottinghamshire, and clearly brings a heap of experience to a wanting Warriors line-up.
