Team read riot act

STAND-IN Blitzbokke skipper Frankie Horne has revealed that the riot act was read to his team during training as they prepared for this weekend’s Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens. “A few honest words were spoken and some of the guys felt uncomfortable with what was said,” Horne said.

The Blitzbokke suffered their worst tournament performance in 11 years last weekend in Dubai where they lost to minnows Portugal and were sent crashing out of the cup event.

“Now the team must take it further in Port Elizabeth and do better than last weekend. There are still things we have to work on but they are not major things. It was not up to our standards to play in the Bowl section,” Horne said.

“All the games we lost in Dubai were by less than seven points and they were touch and go and we worked hard.”
