CORBYN Dolley produced a brilliant cameo of 31 not out to propel NMMU to a dramatic victory over UCT on the opening day of the University Sports SA (Ussa) cricket week at the NMMU Oval yesterday.
Facing UCT’s handy total of 232 for seven in 50 overs, NMMU looked like they had lost their way until, needing 32 in three overs, Dolley smashed two reverse sweep fours and a magnificent six over mid-wicket to get them home by three wickets with one ball remaining.
His 31 off just 18 deliveries was a crucial contribution and left him and brother Brad needing six runs off the final over.
As they had all through their eighth-wicket partnership of 35, the pair ran well between the wickets and eventually, with two needed off two balls, Brad lifted a delivery to wide long-on. That let them scamper through for the winning runs.
