TWO Eastern Province juniors, Carli van Onselen and Warrick Emmanuel, left for Malaysia at the weekend to compete in two events which are sure to benefit their tennis development.
The pair are part of a South African team of primary schoolsplayers who will play in the Penang International tournament and the Perlis Milo International event.
The 11-year-old Van Onselen is one of a crop of outstanding juniors in EP at present and is ranked SA No2 in singles and No1 in doubles in the under-12 category.
Coached by Pieter-Uys Barnard, Van Onselen was selected to play in the Nations Cup in Italy in July and she also excelled at several tournaments around the country this year.
In the Bloemfontein Key Health event, she was singles runner-up and doubles winner, and in the Junior Nationals she was runner-up in both events. She came third in the Nike Junior Tournament.
