BRANDWAG golfer Ronald Baxter took the honours in the inaugural Steyn Meyer Junior Open played at the Zwartenbosch Golf Club in Humansdorp at the weekend.
This was the second order of merit tournament for the season. The event was played over 18 holes and started off in good conditions, although the wind grew stronger later in the day.
Baxter shot a 73 to end four shots ahead of Grey High’s Brian Wessels, followed by Alwyn Griebenow (Grey) and Rushane Peters (DF Malherbe), who both had rounds of 78.
The age-group winners were:
Boys u-19: Ronald Baxter (Brandwag) 73
Boys u-17: Rushane Peters (DF Malherbe) 78
Boys u-15: Wian van Aswegen (Port Alfred) 82
Girls: Minette Olivier (Brandwag) 80
The next tournament is the Nedbank Junior Open which will be played over 36 holes at Humewood on December 6.
