‘Bucs must make use of home advantage’

ORLANDO Pirates striker Katlego Mashego said yesterday his side would have to use their home advantage when they hosted Free State Stars in a Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash at Orlando Stadium on Monday.
“When you play at home you have to dictate matters on the field, so it’s up to us to give the energy needed in the game and Stars are the ones who should be trying to catch us on the day,” said Mashego.
The match was set to take place on Saturday, but was moved because the 40000-seater Soweto venue had been pre-booked for a church activity during the Easter weekend.
Despite now having to wait two days for their fixture, Mashego was confident the extra days would give them the perfect time to rest and continue their planning to reach the semi-final stage of the competition.
“We will have to treat our Saturday as our Thursday, and our Sunday as our Friday in terms of preparing and training,” said Mashego.
“But otherwise we are ready to face Stars. They are a solid team, but with us playing at home, we will have to use the fact that we will be playing in front of our patriotic fans.” – Sapa
