Kings need to focus in game at Welkom

EASTERN Province Kings are in Welkom to take on the Griffons in the last match of the Vodacom Cup group stages at the North West Stadium at 3pm on Friday.
With the quarter-finals following this weekend’s matches and the Kings’ points that were docked following the decision that found the Kings guilty of contravening the Saru player transfer rules, this is set to be the Port Elizabeth side’s last game of the tournament. The Pampas, Western Province, Sharks and Free State – the top four sides in the South Section of the competition – look set to book their places in the quarter-final.
The top four likely to qualify for the knockout stages in the North Section are the Golden Lions, Griquas, Pumas and Blue Bulls.
“We don’t have control over what happened with the [docked] points. We just need to focus on this match,” coach Alan Solomons said.
The Kings, who have lost only two of their seven matches played so far, will be out to finish the competition on a high with a victory over the Griffons, but they remain wary of their opposition.
