NELSON Mandela Bay woman soccer ace Amanda Sister has been named in the Banyana Banyana soccer squad for the Olympic women’s qualifier against Tunisia at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday.
Banyana caretaker coach Joseph Mkhonza announced the squad of 18 yesterday after 25 players attended a training camp in Durban.
Sister, 21, a Grade 12 pupil at Ndzondelelo High in Zwide, is a central defender for the local Liverpool women’s team.
She was included in the national squad for the CAF African Women’s Championship in Johannesburg last year and formed a consistent rearguard partnership with Janine van Wyk during Banyana Banyana’s bronze medal-winning performance at the African championship.
The team will be boosted by the return of three key players for Saturday’s game. – Sapa
