Stewart aims to dazzle on track

NMMU ace runner Cindy Stewart is set to dazzle on the athletics track once again this year in the hope of emulating her 13- race unbeaten streak of last year, despite being disappointed with third place in the Yellow Pages Series in Pretoria last Friday.
The Cape Town-born athlete, aged 25, who is one of the fastest women on the track, is excited and confident at the prospect of success this year, and hopes to do better than Friday’s third place in her first competitive 100m race this year.
“I (was) very excited for my first 100m race,” Stewart said. “One always has an uneasy feeling before the first race, and that is how I felt. I do prefer the 100m to the 200m.”
Stewart expressed her disappointment at her placing, as well as the time she ran, but remained confident that she would improve for the SA champs in April.
Stewart went into the race as a firm favourite and felt the pressure of being on top.
