Kings gain SWD forward as bonus after Namibia win

IN addition to starting off their Vodacom Cup campaign with a convincing 47-12 win over Namibia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night, the Eastern Province Kings have received a further boost with the acquisition of former South Western Districts Eagles and Springbok Sevens loose-forward Jacques Engelbrecht.
Kings coach Alan Solomons announced that Engelbrecht, who has also played for Western Province, had been contracted to the Kings and had already begun training with the side.
The talented 25-year-old will boost the already solid group of loose-forwards in the side, and will be available for selection when the Kings take on the Leopards in their second match of the competition in Potchefstroom on Friday.
Despite the convincing scoreline, the Kings were not at their best on the day, but saw patches of brilliance as they capitalised on the plentiful errors made by Namibia to demolish the visitors.
