House solid in ‘great’ Bay leg of cycle tour

BRITISH cyclist Kristian House retained the leader’s jersey with another impressive performance as Nelson Mandela Bay emerged trumps after the third stage of the Cell C Tour of South Africa yesterday.
Despite blustery conditions, with the wind gusting up to over 30km/h at times, the riders took it in their stride and House came home in the leading bunch as they swept into the finish in front of the Bayworld complex.
Cycling SA chief executive Barry Mocke had nothing but praise for the Nelson Mandela Bay authorities, as well as those in the Cacadu district, for a superbly organised stage.
The tour ran into problems in the second stage in Johannesburg on Sunday with heavy traffic disrupting the cyclists, resulting in the leg being eventually declared null and void.
