FORMER Eastern Province flyhalf Wesley Dunlop scored 15 points to lead Tukkies to a convincing 37-8 Varsity Cup victory over NMMU Madibaz at Xerox NMMU Stadium tonight (February 7).
Dunlop, who was educated at Grey High, scored a try and kicked two penalties and two conversions to skipper his side to an opening victory in the competition.
Tukkies will be satisfied with their win but still have plenty work to do if they wish to compete with the big guns. But they have clinched valuable log points.
For the home side, the result was again a massive disappointment. NMMU have been the whipping boys in the three previous versions of the tournament. There was renewed hope for this season, but on last night’s showing there remains plenty of hard work ahead.
