The meeting between the ANC’s National Working Committee and party veterans has ended with them presenting a united front.

The four-hour-long session followed veterans requesting a meeting with President Jacob Zuma to address concerns in the party ranks as well as over Zuma’s fitness to hold office as the leader of the party and county.

“One of the most important things is that we met face to face and engaged.

They [veterans]have given us a number of issues‚ many of them quite difficult to resolve in one meeting‚” ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said in Pretoria yesterday.

“What we have committed to do is have afollow-up meeting before the close of December.”

ANC stalwart Wally Serote said: “There were difficult moments [and] we will address them. There are also many issues we agreed upon and therefore we are guided by the president when he said, let us meet.”
