The search for a new Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality city boss has drawn 77applications.
The municipality, which has not had a permanent head since municipal manager Mpilo Mbambisa’s resignation a year ago, will finalise its short list tomorrow.
The recruitment is being handled by human resources firm Oceana HRP and the municipal corporate services department.
The job, which comes with a pay cheque of about R2.4-million a year, was advertised last month. The successful candidate will be in charge of the municipality’s workforce of about 7 000.The person appointed would be the sixth permanent administration head since the metro was formed in 2000.
Kristoff Adelbert, chief of staff in mayor Athol Trollip’s office, said final interviews for the post would be concluded by the end of this month.
“We would like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible after the final interviews,” Adelbert said.
Acting city manager Johann Mettler is believed to have applied for the position, although he declined to confirm this.
