DA wins Kouga Municipality

The DA has won Kouga Municipality which includes Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Hankey and Thornhill  with 58% of the vote. The municipality was previously under the ANC.

The DA in Kouga says it retained  six of its wards in Kouga municipality, but this has not been confirmed by the IEC yet. Wards 3, 4, 5, 8, 11 and 12 were retained according to Elza Van Lingen. The party says it gained ward 15 which is a new ward, and won ward 14 from ANC.

Van Lingen is the DA' s mayoral candidate in Kouga.

ANC Sarah Baartman regional secretary Scara Njadayi confirmed that the DA had won Kouga municipality with an outright majority.

"They have won it with an outright majority. We won 7 of the wards and they retained the 6 wards and won ward 14 and 15 which are new wards," Njadayi said.
