Secret recordings of a policeman speaking to the Panayiotou family after murder accused Christopher’s arrest, were played to the Port Elizabeth High Court on Tuesday morning – catching Warrant Officer Leon Eksteen off guard.

Eksteen earlier denied showing alleged middleman Luthando Siyoni photographs of Jayde’s body during the questioning of him at the Organised Crime offices on April 28 last year.

But in a recording of Eksteen speaking to Christopher’s father, Costa Panayiotou, he tells how they instructed Siyoni to look at the graphic pictures.

Eksteen, meanwhile, also told the court that at some stage Costa – his friend of 16 years – told him he wanted to write his son off because of his affair with Chanelle Coutts.

“Costa was angry, he didn’t even go to the OK Grocer because of it.”

Eksteen returns to the stand on Tuesday afternoon.
