Letter: Beach drinking area a bad idea

Reasons that bad idea:

• Noise pollution – yes, it is a real thing, and I’m thinking of both human and wildlife that will be disturbed by noise such as loud music, shouting as well as street racing;
• Drinking in public is illegal, as far as I know, therefore enough said!
• The litter will be made so much worse!

Port Elizabeth and other cities have a litter issue and municipal workers do not always do a fantastic job.

The broken it’s a glass alone is a major health hazard to both humans and animals!

• Coastal protection – am I not correct in stating that our entire coastline is protected under national and regional law?

Since when is it OK to disturb protected fauna and flora?

• Death – the poor life guards are going to be blamed if anyone dies!

Alcohol and swimming are never a good idea even for trained swimmers.

These drunk persons do and will ruin the space for the locals and tourists!

Please tell me I am not the only one who feels this way.

This is one of the worst ideas I have ever seen!
