Last Friday I decided to take my son to watch Chippa at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
I had been told that, for some inexplicable reason, one cannot simply turn up at the ground and purchase tickets from their ticket office! Amazing as that is, it gets even worse. A friend, who goes regularly, told me to go to either Checkers or PostNet at the Walmer 6th Avenue Shopping Centre.
I duly drove there from my home in Summerstrand and waited in the line at Checkers for 15 or so minutes (there were three women attending the computers but only one was working).
Once I made it to the front the lady told me that Checkers did not sell Chippa tickets but suggested I go to PostNet.
The staff at PostNet, too, told me that they did not sell football tickets.
My friend then suggested I try PostNet at Moffett on Main.
By this time I was back home in Summerstand and didn’t feel like competing with Friday afternoon traffic to get up to Moffett on Main.
I then tried buying tickets online but I was too late as they needed 24 hours to arrange delivery/collection of the tickets and the match was due to kick off at 8pm.
It is amazing that football fans cannot, on the spur of the moment, attend a football match at our iconic stadium.
Does anyone know how or where I can buy tickets for Chippa’s next home game?
