Letter: Mogoeng inspirational

On Thursday evening (October 27) I had the privilege to see and listen to the O R Tambo Memorial Lecture given by chief justice and Constitutional Court head Mogoeng Mogoeng, broadcast on e.tv channel 403.

What an inspiration and pleasure it was to see and hear this eloquent speaker.

He repeatedly referred to those who put “position, power, privilege and personal enrichment” before service to the people of South Africa and kept repeating the question “what would O R [Tambo] have done?”

In the light of current events in South Africa and in our own city, the message of Chief Justice Mogoeng, and Oliver Tambo, should be repeated again and again, and our leaders and those in positions of power and influence should take note and ask themselves, “what would O R have done?”
