Letter: Soul-searching needed by top teams

There is no MTN8 competition without Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, and we were beaten fairly by Cape Town City over the previous weekend. While Chiefs lost the game 1-0, there were other teams like Pirates that also lost, Pirates losing the game against Wits 2-1.

Both teams need to go back to the drawing board, especially Amakhosi, and do some soulsearching as to what went wrong. We should also allow Brilliant Khuzwayo to start the game so that we can give Itumeleng Khune a break as he has done his duty in the national team and PSL.

We should have done better with the new young players that Chiefs bought, but unfortunately it will take time for the players to gel and produce good performances. I am still appealing to our Chiefs supporters to give coach Steve Komphela reasonable time to work with the players so that we can see if the results will be coming or not.

It also took Pitso Mosimane a reasonable time with Sundowns to come up with a winning combination.

He is not dominating the PSL and all his players are on form.

I encourage all our football followers in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro to rally behind our local team, Chippa United, against Sundowns. I can put my neck on the block that they will beat Sundowns as the boys are hungry for success.

Let us show the whole country that we do have our own talent in the province which was neglected for a long -time, but Chippa will make history in this competition.
