Letter: Don’t imitate TV advert

THERE is an advertisement currently on TV depicting a young boy handing a soft drink to a younger boy sitting on a bench. The younger boy accepts the bottle and begins to drink from it.

Suddenly the older boy knocks the bottle with his hand while the other boy is still drinking. I am a retired dentist and over the course of many years I had to treat a great number of smashed front teeth as a result of this inane and dangerous practice.

Parents, be warned. Advise your children to desist from this “assault”, either as the perpetrator or as the recipient, or victim. The resulting dental damage is very traumatic, both to the child and to the parents’ pockets!

I appeal to Coca-Cola to withdraw this advert before more children are injured in this way.
