Letter:Dangerous bus driving serious

RE “Bus almost took me out” (The Herald, March 9), I would like to bring the following incident to the attention of the bus company as well. On March 4 at 4.30pm, bus number K1056 almost collided with my vehicle in the traffic circle at the intersection of Luneville Road and Van Eck Street in Lorraine. I entered the circle from Luneville Road side and I was shocked to see that bus number K1056 was heading into the circle straight at me from Van Eck Street side. I would like to point out that the driver drove to the right instead of the left into the circle. This is a dangerous move, as this could have resulted in a serious head-on collision.

I have previously complained about the same thing at the Luneville Road and Van Eck Street intersection, where I had a similar near miss about a year ago which I brought to the attention of Algoa Bus Company. I fail to understand why the drivers are still driving around on the wrong side of traffic circles and posing a safety hazard for other motorists. This is a very serious matter and needs to be addressed. If there is a problem with driving buses around a traffic circle, then Algoa Bus Company should be taking the matter up with the municipal traffic and roads department.
