Letter: Lives tragically lost

I WOULD like to express my concern about the loss of lives in our community and the indifference of many towards this dilemma. To quote Berning Ntlemeza, “this is a massacre”.

The death of six people is not seen as important as this news only makes page 2 in the newspaper (“Hawks fly in after six die in gang violence”, February 1).

People are living in fear. Some areas are considered to be “no go areas”. People are afraid even to visit relatives in these areas.

Our youth is being annihilated and the perpetrators are not being brought to book, hence the escalation in these gang related murders. The lives of people are more important than the millions wasted by the municipal officials.

Something must be done about the crisis in the northern areas.
