Letter: DA show hypocrisy on racism

The picture on the front page of The Herald yesterday with Athol Trollip putting his arm around Mongameli Bobani of the UDM is hypocrisy of the first order.
Why do I say this? Justifiably DA councillor [Chris] Roberts was booted out of the DA for his much-publicised racist statement, whereby he allegedly referred to Bobani as a "bobbejaan", one of many racist statements by white DA members in the recent past.
At a subsequent council meeting, a UDM councillor made the following racist statement to the then Mayor, Ben Fihla namely: “Mr Mayor I want to make a request to you that all whites in the metro must go live in shacks.” So why are Trollip and the DA prepared to embrace a black racist and not a white racist?
