Letter: Hoping for change in government

AS a South African citizen, I am so very sick of constantly hearing about all the fraud, corruption and theft going on in our government. They have no right to our money, we gave it in good faith.

No matter who the political party is, it does not have the right to abuse our money in this manner. We as a country have some serious needs that must be addressed and you (whoever you are) are stealing the money and as a result the needs of South Africa are not met.

Our schools and hospitals, to name just two, are in dire straits and still they continue to steal. The rot starts at the top.

Look at the president of the country, who apparently has more than 700 cases of fraud against him, all of which were swept under the mat so that he could become president. What an injustice to South Africa.

I am so sick of hearing of how the underprivileged are still so underprivileged, yet they continue year after year to believe the ANC and at each election they still vote for it. How blind can you be?

We are 20 years-plus into the new South Africa and still the underprivileged consider themselves to be hard done by. If you continue to believe the rubbish that the ANC preaches then you will always be underprivileged. Wake up and smell the roses. We are supposed to be creating jobs, yet companies are closing down or “restructuring”, which also loses jobs. Our economy is at an all-time low, our rand is just about useless and still people vote for a corrupt government. I mean really.

I live in hope that this changes at each election and this one is no different. All of you out there who do not vote, please reconsider your stance as your vote can make a difference.

It only takes one to win. Let’s take back our country so we can live better than we have been doing.

I am not a political animal, but I do feel strongly about my country, South Africa.
