Letter: Residents can vote for change

THE ruling party in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro is entangled in internal strife in its ranks, coupled with an avalanche of loss of support in former strongholds, as evidenced by the humiliating by-election defeats in Ward 42 in Uitenhage and Ward 30 in Veeplaas. The DA continues to make serious inroads in many non-traditional areas.

The false propaganda peddled by the ANC and its agents, of labelling our organisation as a white and racist party, has proven to be futile and a political gimmick aimed at distorting our historical mission of building a non-racial society on the values of freedom, fairness and opportunity.

This unprecedented growth bears testimony that the DA with its founding principle of a vision of an open opportunity society for all is embraced by many South Africans across the racial divide.

As citizens of this wonderful city, we are spoilt for choice and opportunity when it comes to choosing leadership on August 3. We can either choose the status quo of corruption, empty and broken promises, poor service delivery and high unemployment, or we can choose the DA difference, underpinned by clean, honest and responsive governance that will deliver better services, and work hard to create many more jobs and opportunities for all.
