Letter: DA has proved it can govern well

WITH reference to The Herald Editorial comment of May 2 (“Parties all pledge better governance”), what you are effectively saying is that the message from the four main parties in their manifestos is that all make promises for better governance, but that it is yet to be determined whether they can deliver on these promises.

The ANC has had all of 22 years to deliver and has failed spectacularly in many cases such as in education, health, dealing with corruption, crime, etc, so its track record of good governance is generally poor. The EFF and UDM have not governed so cannot be tested.

However, the DA has governed in the Western Cape for some years and evidence of good governance is there for all to see. It is therefore hardly fair to include the DA in your comment, “whether each of them can deliver on the promises is yet to be determined”.

Surely the DA has proved by its record in the Western Cape that it is capable of good governance and your comment should have acknowledged this fact.
