The state of the nation address (Sona) was more democracy in overdrive than democracy in action, but unfortunately without steering wheel and silencer!
Let’s forget about the histrionics of Sona and try to understand the president’s thinking when in the same diatribe in which he urges us to conserve water, he makes the proud announcement that the Karoo is going to be tapped for gas. Has he not been informed that fracking our shale for gas will sound the death knell for the ground water of the Karoo?
Or is he kept in the dark about that too. like the improvements to Nkandla? What a sad, sad situation this country finds itself in.
