One of the most frequented tourist destinations in Port Elizabeth is the pier at Shark Rock.
It is sad that from all appearances this iconic structure is not being maintained adequately.
Woodwork by its nature needs routine maintenance, otherwise it rots and falls to pieces. This is what appears to be happening to the hand rails.
Also the bolts securing the railings are corroding.
Expenditure on maintaining this type of infrastructure brings tourists to Port Elizabeth, which creates jobs. Isn’t that important? Or is someone not getting the point?
