Limit entry number to make it fairer

I AM just a bit disappointed that a person that could afford 3 000 entries won the dream wedding competition at The Herald Boardwalk Bridal Fair.

There must somehow be a limit to this.

I have been waiting for three years to get married, saving up. This was my dream.

I am sure this was also many other girls’ dreams. It is so unfair.

It must have cost her R18 000 to enter that many times.

I could have planned my wedding with that.

This is just a suggestion to the organisers.

It was our dream just to get married. I bought 10 Heralds. The others I collected from friends and colleagues.

I understand the Herald is a business and that R18 000 is good for business. But just consider the people that can’t afford it.

The Herald Boardwalk Bridal Fair WIN A WEDDING competition, which launched 12 years ago, has become an annual sought-after competition for thousands of engaged couples. The excitement attached to the possibility of winning your dream wedding is what sits at the heart of this competition. It is for this reason that we The Herald as owners, organisers and custodians of this competition would never want to limit the enthusiasm entrants have for it by capping the amount of entries. The final draw is a random lucky draw process and as such ensures that all individual entries are equal.
