Poor signage, road markings cause frustration

GOOD morning Sanral. After another trip to Cape Town none of my concerns (in last e-mail) seem to have been attended to.

The authorities complain of poor driving, unroadworthy cars and impatience as causes of accidents, but having done a lot of travel around South Africa lately, I believe poor road signage and road markings are a major factor behind driver frustration.

Passing lanes have been created by narrowing the yellow lines to create three lanes, allowing one to pass slow-moving vehicles. Why is this method not used countrywide?

Often speed signs are missing. Sharp bends often lack signage (and again these can be painted on the road).

Strive for the best, PE
